DotSensei worked with new gTLD applicants at the GDD Summit
Last week DotSensei attended the 2017 edition of the Global Domains Division Industry Summit (GDD Industry Summit) organized by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). The summit was held 9-11 May in the beautiful city of Madrid. The venue selected was Hotel NH Collection Madrid Eurobuilding, which brought together a diverse pool of attendees from 60 different countries.
Unlike the traditional ICANN annual conferences, this summit was a special interest event that provided ICANN contracted parties, resellers and new gTLD applicants with an intimate venue for networking opportunities and for discussing industry trends. The main purpose of the summit was pragmatic and focused on finding concrete solutions for emerging and ongoing operational issues concerning the DNS ecosystem rather than dealing with policy development.
Some of the major topics on the agenda were related to data privacy and protection challenges in the context of EU’s General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), branding for TLDs, the need for increased awareness for new gTLDs, promotion of competition, consumer trust and consumer choice, etc.
The summit was an invaluable opportunity for DotSensei to meet new gTLD applicants and to show them how they can benefit from our products and services, and can get ready for the launch of the next round of new gTLD applications. If you are a new gTLD applicant looking for a partner to guide you in this process, feel free to contact us. We would be happy to talk to you and to help you succeed!
